Last days I have been writing a little
off topic subjects like “making money online” etc. Now lets come back to
the core purpose of this blog – “Microsoft Windows,Linux Tips and Tricks”. Why don’t
we review the upcoming Windows 8 Beta? So if you want to download and
test a beta version here is the link and it’s free to download – Windows 8 Beta – so how Windows 8 is gonna beat Windows 7? Let’s take a look at it!
So Windows 8 is a “multi platform” or a
“multi device” compatible OS from Microsoft which can be used in all
devices ranging from 10 inch tablets to high end graphics machines. So
you can use it in your tabs, PC’s desktops, business notebooks etc etc.
With a single license purchase you can use the same OS across all your
devices – sounds a good deal!
Above video is a preview of the Windows 8 OS and its new features. Have a see through!
Now you might have already got the
“knack” – Windows 8 is more or like the Windows phone 7 OS and its
versions. It has got a personalized lock screen and start screen.
Windows 8 is exactly the so called “Metro” style of Windows phone 7. The
one important feature is you can now run two apps side by side on the
same screen (which is obviously a great feature in any single OS).
Windows 8 will be the final version of Microsoft’s operating systems for
desktop PC’s and the change is obvious in the architecture as well.
Windows 8 is more geared towards “”touch based” inputs rather than
“mouse and keyboard based” inputs. And there is one more major change
compared to previous windows versions – earlier – windows was released
as Home, Professional etc with major changes in security and networking
capabilities. But when it comes to Windows 8, the focus is on combining
all the different devices together into one single operating system – I
mean the tablets, PC’s, notebooks and other types of mobile computing.
The Differences:-
When you turn on the computer – you are
welcomed to a start screen with “widget” like boxes (called “grid of
tiles”) instead of your conventional start menu and task bar full of
applications. It’s the same mobile screen experience! Unlike the usual
icons in desktop these “tiles” always show an excerpt of the information
contained in them as useful data. You can see them at the image shown
above – see the “investments” or “weather” section. Such “tiles” with
useful data as excerpts can be used wisely to stay organized and
focused. As its a “cross device” OS – they have both “touch” and “mouse
keyboard” input methods. Anyway the default start screen and other
screens are same for both. From the start screen user can move on to
screen 2 where he finds 5 tiles or as they call it “windows 8 charms” –
Start, Search, Share, Devices and Settings. “Start” will take you back
to start screen – where as “Search” enables you to search through the
device and “Share” enables social sharing and sharing over other forms
of communication like Email and IM. Similarly you can add “customized
screens” too as screen 3,4,5 etc.
If you haven’t tried the Windows 8 beta yet, please try and post your opinions here about it.
